Frequently Asked Questions

The ideal window is during the active growing season, from Spring through early Summer (September to March). This ensures your lawn has the warmth and vigour to recover rapidly. However, we also offer Solid Tine Aeration all year round, which is highly popular in the cooler, wetter months to prevent winter water-logging.
-
If your lawn feels spongy, bouncy, or "springy" underfoot, it has a thick thatch layer that needs vertimowing. If water pools on the surface, runs off or the ground feels rock-hard when you step on it, your soil is heavily compacted and requires aeration to let the root zone breathe again.
-
Vertimowing (Dethatching) is a more aggressive structural renovation using vertical blades to slice deep and pull massive amounts of dead runners and organic material out of your lawn. It is perfect for fast-growing varieties like Couch and Kikuyu.
Lawn Grooming is a much gentler canopy management technique. Because Buffalo lawns (like Sir Walter) grow predominantly via above-ground runners, deep vertimowing can destroy them. We use specialised MowMaster Verti-groomers to safely thin out lateral growth and stimulate new shoots without damaging the lawn's crown. -
Yes, and that is completely normal! Right after a deep vertimow, your lawn will look yellow, sparse, and a bit bare for about 1 to 3 weeks (longer for Buffalo). Don't panic; we have just removed the suffocating brown thatch to expose the healthy underlying roots.

It is the ultimate "reset" button for a tired yard. Our Billy Goat PLUGR pulls deep 100mm cores out of the ground, creating open channels. When we apply a nutrient-rich local top dressing immediately after, the organic matter fills those holes, driving nutrients deep into the sandy soil profile while leveling out any dips or bumps.
-
We use two distinct types of premium, locally sourced top dressing blends depending entirely on your lawn’s current health and structural needs:
For Levelling & Smoothing: We use a clean, washed sand. This is ideal for established, healthy lawns that just need to be perfectly leveled out to eliminate uneven bumps, dips, and mower-scalping zones.
For Soil Amendment & Nutrition: We use a premium, nutrient-rich organic soil blend. This is specifically designed for tired, yellowing, or nutrient-deprived lawns. It introduces vital organic matter directly into the sandy Perth profile to improve water retention and soil health.During our initial visit, we will analyse your lawn and can make recommendations on the exact blend required for your turf.
-
Absolutely. Post-treatment is the absolute best time to feed your lawn because the soil profile is completely open. If agreed, we can apply premium, locally sourced slow-release fertilisers and professional-grade wetting agents to break through Perth’s natural sand hydrophobia (water-repellency) and lock in deep moisture.
-
We do both. If your hedges have become woody, overgrown, and are blocking sunlight from reaching your turf, we perform structural, heavy-duty hedge reductions to cut back the mass and stimulate fresh, dense leaf canopies. Best of all, we handle 100% of the green waste extraction and eco-friendly disposal, saving you weekend trips to the tip.
-
Very little! Just make sure your lawn or yard is clear of toys, hoses, or pet waste, and ensure our technicians can easily access the lawn area.
